Republic Act No. 7925

Republic Act 7985 or the Public Telecommunications Policy Act of the Philippines consolidated and outlined provisions in a way that responds to the restructuring of the telecommunications industry. The law identifies the NTC as its principal administrator.

Republic Act No. 8792

In 2000, RA 8792 or the Electronic Commerce Act was passed. Patterned after the model law on e-Commerce of the United Nations Commission of International Trade, the law allows the recognition and acceptance of electronic evidence in court and penalizes cybercrimes such as hacking and piracy. The E-Commerce Act also mandates government agencies to provide web presence by 2002.

Republic Act No. 6849

Also known as the Municipal Telephone Act, RA 6849 provided for the installation, operation and maintenace of public telephones in each and every municipality in the Philippines.
